 Touring by bike in the Pla de l'Estany district
The Pla de L'Estany, with the Lake of Banyoles as its principal feature and its watercourses flowing down from the Pyrenees, is an area of great natural beauty, in terms of both scenery and history.
The natural beauty of the basin of the Lake with its various ponds, the rocky crevasses of Les Estunes, the caves of Serinyà, surrounded by woods of holm-oaks that form a very particular type of landscape, the Lake of Espolla together with its irrigation channel crossing the Pla de Martís until it finally reaches the river Fluvià in the form of a giant Waterfall.

 Circuits
The main routes cover the basin of the Lake which gives its name to the Pla de l'Estany district, where you can see the various ponds that are characteristic of this zone, scattered along the length of route 8. With route 2 you can discover the ponds and tracks around Porqueres and the pinewoods of Can Morgat.
If you wish to discover the beauty of the Lake of Banyoles as seen from above, you can folllow route 10 which goes from Pla de Martís to Pla de l'Estany. In the spring the Lake of 'Espolla with its tiny "prehistoric animals", the Triops, will give a curious note to the ride. As you follow the Espolla irrigation channel, you will hear the sound of the Waterfall, before plunging into a wonderful wood full of holm-oaks. Following this circuit to the end you will come to the Prehistoric Caves at Serinyà.
